How anonymity limits later checking
The witness’s anonymity is one of the biggest obstacles to assessing the case today.
Keeping witnesses anonymous was not unusual among UFO investigators in the 1970s. Overall assessment of the witness’s credibility
Taken on its own, the witness account appears sincere enough that investigators regarded it as worth documenting rather than dismissing outright. The narrative is detailed, internally coherent and does not obviously contain contradictions that would immediately undermine it.
Its weaknesses, however, are substantial:
- it relies on a single anonymous observer;

The witness may have reported exactly what he believed he experienced, but the available evidence is too limited to determine with confidence what that experience actually was.
