What Pedley reported seeing
On the morning of 19 January 1966, George Pedley was driving a tractor near Horseshoe Lagoon at Euramo, south of Tully, when he heard a loud hissing noise above the engine. Looking up, he reported seeing a dull grey or blue-grey object shaped like two saucers placed face to face. Contemporary reports describe it as roughly 25 feet (about 7.5 metres) across and around eight or nine feet deep. Several features of his description have remained remarkably consistent across official records and early newspaper reports:
